2026 Customer Sharing Session: Highlights & Recap
「客戶分享會:輕鬆面對未來」 · Facing the Future with Ease · conducted in Cantonese
On 29 May 2026, our Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Betty Pun welcomed policyholders to our first Customer Sharing Session, held at the Kowloon Shangri-La. Three invited guest speakers addressed important aspects of planning for the future, including making a will and an Enduring Power of Attorney, and setting out your medical wishes in advance. The key message was clear: preparing early helps ensure that your wishes are known, so your family can follow your plans with clarity and confidence when the time comes. In a separate session, another guest speaker discussed how to keep pace with the latest government digital services, helping policyholders access essential public services and useful information more easily, and manage important matters with greater confidence.
Wills & Enduring Power of Attorney
Solicitors Paul K.C. Chan and Victor W.C. Lee from Paul K.C. Chan & Partners explained the importance of making a Will and an Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA), and the difference between the two. An EPOA allows a person you trust to continue managing your affairs if you later become mentally incapable, while a Will sets out how your estate should be distributed after death. They also highlighted key practical considerations, including the requirements for making a valid Will in Hong Kong and the implications of holding property as joint tenants or tenants in common.
Advance Medical Directives
Dr Ho Wan Sze, Wency, Consultant Physician at CUHK Medical Centre and Specialist in Geriatric Medicine, spoke about the importance of setting out one’s medical wishes in advance. She introduced Hong Kong’s Advance Decision on Life-sustaining Treatment Ordinance (Cap. 651), which came into effect on 31 July 2026, and explained how an Advance Medical Directive allows a mentally capable adult to state in advance which life-sustaining treatments they would refuse in specified end-of-life situations.
Government Digital Services: iAM Smart
Ms Joyce Ho, Director of Tech Enablement at the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, introduced iAM Smart, the Government’s one-stop digital identity platform for accessing both public and commercial online services. She demonstrated its key functions, such as secure login, automatic form filling and digital signing, as well as user-friendly features including Lite Mode and the Seniors’ Information Hub, and guided guests through registration and everyday use.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, during which guests raised a range of thoughtful and practical questions. We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion, and look forward to hosting more informative sessions in the future.
